Hey there 👋

I'm Lauren

Fun Fact: Disney & Dog Obsessed

I am a Founder and Director of Access Your Life.

I was diagnosed with several disabilities at the age of 19. While I previously had a passion for teaching dance, I’ve since developed a deep appreciation for sharing my experiences. My hope is that by doing so, others living with disabilities can learn to make the most of each day with the help of the right equipment, whether that involves resting in bed or planning a trip to Disneyland!

Get to know me

Over a decade ago, my health declined rapidly and has required regular hospital visits, mobility aids, and full-time care to this day. During this time, I have faced disbelief from healthcare providers, resulting in medical-related anxiety and a deep mistrust of local services.

This was further compounded when I was provided with a clinically unsuitable wheelchair, which caused such severe pain (both physical and mental) that I eventually stopped leaving my home altogether.

Sadly, my experience purchasing my first bespoke pink wheelchair wasn’t much better and highlighted a critical industry gap – the inability to “test drive” tailored equipment often leads to wasted time, money, and resources.

Yet securing the suitable custom equipment is essential for restoring independence and enhancing quality of life, so I quickly became dedicated to helping the AYL community overcome these challenges to access the equipment best suited to their needs and wants.

Fortunately, I am able to work flexibly around my health. Whether I am working from my bed on days I am struggling or at events with the support of my assistance dog, I remain fully committed to helping others achieve a brighter future.
