Personal Opinion:
I would say the benefits are that it’s foldable and fits in a car boot. Plus if you are visiting friends or in a public space that has narrow doorframes etc, you don’t have to worry about getting stuck! The only definate down side is that it’s uncomfortable to sit in for long periods and I would loose my independance if anything we to happen to it, as you can’t exactly have a spare one!
