Trekinetic aims to significantly enhance the wheelchair experience for all users. Founded in 2006 by engineer Mike Spindle, the company believes that wheelchair users should enjoy the same access to the world as everyone else. With the confidence that wheelchairs could be improved to be lighter, more comfortable, and more versatile, Trekinetic set out to develop a new kind of wheelchair. After six years and fourteen prototypes, Trekinetic launched its innovative K2 and GTE wheelchairs, both of which have since received multiple awards. Here’s what makes their wheelchairs stand out:
Design – Both the manual K2 and the powered GTE models have two large front wheels, a monocoque tilt-in-space seat, a rear shock absorber, and 24-inch mountain bike tyres for a smooth and comfortable ride.
All-Terrain Capability – Their unique three-wheel design enables them to navigate diverse terrains such as mud, sand, snow, and gravel with ease.
Manoeuvrability – Trekinetic’s patented Varicam system enables easy adjustment of wheel angles, allowing you to quickly enhance stability off-road or improve practicality indoors.
Features – Unlike traditional wheelchairs, Trekinetic uses a super lightweight carbon fibre seat instead of a metal chassis. This design not only reduces weight but also provides a more ergonomic fit to the human body, offering superior support with less padding. Additionally, the carbon fibre seat can be customised with hyperform linings, growth kits for children, handlebar extensions, and a choice of over 200 shell colours.
Portability – Both the powered and manual models are designed to fold down easily, fitting into small vehicles. This removes the need for wheelchair-accessible cars and simplifies transportation by train or plane.
Functionality – The GTE is one of the few all-terrain power chairs that can also be operated manually. This crucial feature ensures users are never stranded due to a depleted battery or unable to move in an emergency.
The Trekinetic team is dedicated to designing and producing high-quality products that have been thoroughly tried and tested, including by the AYL team and now many of our users. They are also available to assist you should any issues arise, ensuring you can continue living independently.
