TravelScoot Deluxe

The Verdict

Small tricycle style foldable scooter. It features a silver metal frame and a red bag carrier under the legs. The handlebars and seat are adjustable. The seat has a large cushion, and the backrest has a smaller cushion for support. The battery is located beneath the seat and is long and rectangular.

I have two batteries. The first (343wH) lasts around 10 hours and exceeds the flight safety limit of 300wH, making it my long-distance battery. The second (205wH) lasts about 4 hours and is suitable for travel, making it perfect for short distances.

I love my TravelScoot! It has opened up my ability to travel again, and I get compliments wherever I go with it. I use it for festivals, shopping, and travelling independently. I’ve been stopped in the street, at museums, and at concerts around the world by people asking what make and model it is, so they can buy one for themselves or recommend it to family and friends. I even keep their business cards in my purse because I am asked about them so often!

At 18, I was conscious about getting a mobility scooter that looked more age-appropriate as opposed to geriatric looking. It’s very compact, easy to handle, and feels more like an extension of myself than just a mode of transport.

It is very compact and can be quickly and easily folded to fit in the boot of a taxi, making it easier to use public transport. It is very lightweight (about 12kg), so my friends or family can lift it up and down stairs at venues or tube stations. The pocket or carrier can hold quite a lot and is very handy. I can fit a suitcase under my legs, balanced on the frame, and a small rucksack on the backrest, which allows me to travel independently.

I knocked one star off because I find the backrest is not supportive enough for me to sit comfortably for long periods. However, a larger back support would affect the ability to fold the scooter. Also, as someone with a spinal condition, I find that there isn’t enough suspension in the seat, and I can feel the cracks and bumps in the road, which can be painful. My city is very old with bad footpaths, so I suppose most scooters would struggle with this! It cannot go up small steps or low curbs, which means I have to get off and lift it up, which isn’t ideal if you have a bad back. But overall, this scooter has allowed me to remain independent and move around easily, so I would highly recommend it! I personally think this model suits those with medium to good balance, who don’t need much back support and can walk short distances.
