Slicone pushrim covers for wheelchair wheels. Available in pink, red, blue, purple, black, yellow, and green.
I ordered a pink and red pair that arrived promptly in a package with a Reha Design logo on it. They were rolled up and took about a day to ‘unpop’, so they were a little stiff at first. The push rim grips are simple and quick to fit, but I found them a bit fiddly because of my weakened hand grip. Essentially, you locate the slit in the push rim cover and rotate it around the wheel’s rim, gradually fitting it onto the entire push rim.
I’m completely obsessed with my pushrim covers as they help improve grip, assist with steering, and protect my pushrims from damage. While I was learning how to use my wheelchair, I had many crashes in the first few months, especially in narrow doorways and lifts. These were a lifesaver for preventing my pushrims from getting scratched.
I really didn’t like the boring silver push rims that came with my otherwise colourful chair, so I like how these enhanced the style of my chair. They also look great in photos.
I find them very useful for preventing my hands from becoming sore and blistered. Using the standard push rims that come with your wheelchair without a cover means your hands get cold in winter and hot in summer, and the other push rim covers on the market are black, which absorb heat and are not as fun. So I love that RehaDesign sell a variety of bright colours that are easier to use all year round.
RehaDesign also sells push rim covers designed to provide extra grip for people with quadriplegia, featuring grooves or treads that increase surface area and improve traction. Additionally, they sell Seksi Spokes, designed to wrap over wheel spokes. They come in a variety of bright colours, so I am currently trying out the red Seksi Spokes with my red push rim covers, and it really pops! Although I will get the most use out of the pink covers because they better coordinate with the rest of my wheelchair.
Overall, I recommend these to anyone looking for a reliable push rim cover or an easy, removable way to showcase their personality through their wheelchair. So whether you need them for physical support, to cover scratched push rims, protect new ones, or add a splash of colour to your wheelchair, these push rim covers do it all.
