BundleBean Cosy

The Verdict

There is a selection of designs; mine is pale grey with dark grey elephants on the outside and plain grey fleece on the underside. All the elasticated, fully adjustable straps are black.

When I became reliant on my wheelchair outside the house, it was late summer, so I started looking online for a cover to put over my legs that was fully waterproof, warm, and windproof. I spent hours searching online, but all I could find were navy or burgundy covers designed with older people in mind, where you had to be ‘sat in’ and then zipped up the front over your legs.

Then I stumbled across Bundlebean, a fully waterproof, fleece-lined cover designed to fit over your legs, with its own waterproof stuff bag for easy storage (mine just hangs on the back of my chair all year round). Finally, I’d found exactly what I was looking for, and I was amazed that they seem to be the only company making this style of cover.

I’ve been out in torrential rain in a waterproof coat and my Bundlebean and got home completely dry. It’s really warm, so I use it every time I go out during the winter, and it’s very light too, so it doesn’t put any pressure on your legs. It’s generously sized, but the elasticated straps allow you to ensure a good fit. At the top, there’s elastic sewn into the fabric, so when you attach the top straps, it sits snugly against you to keep out the rain. It also has a front pocket, accessible from either side, which is fully waterproof and fleece-lined. I’ve gone from a centre plate wheelchair, where I used to wrap the Bundlebean right around behind my legs, to a chair with really wide footplates, and it still fits comfortably over them. I especially like how the elastic built into the bottom of the cover means I don’t need to bother with any straps except the ones at the top.

I had one of the elastics at the bottom come away from the seam about 4 or 5 months after I bought it. When I contacted customer services with a couple of photos, they immediately sent a replacement and provided a prepaid postage bag so I could return the broken one to their factory to highlight the weakness for future production.

My Bundlebean is the best thing I’ve purchased relating to getting out and about in my wheelchair, and I wouldn’t be without it. They also make smaller covers for pushchairs, children in wheelchairs, or specialist chairs, but both the adult and child sizes come in a range of funky patterns. I bought my Bundlebean via Amazon because I needed quick delivery, but in the future, I would order directly from the Bundlebean website.
