The Verdict

Converts your manual wheelchair into a powered one that requires no manual pushing at all, as it’s controlled by a joystick. The wheels look like your average pair of wheelchair wheels and clip onto the axle as usual. The only difference is the tiny battery sitting just behind your legs, with a power control joystick attached to your armrest on whichever side you prefer.

It’s very lightweight compared to a powered wheelchair, as everything attaches to my rigid frame. Great for someone who needs a powerchair but prefers to travel in a standard car rather than a WAV.

It’s really good for town or city use, although it cannot climb high curbs if your front wheels aren’t large enough. If you want to go off-road or on bumpy, uneven terrain, I would advise using a FreeWheel or similar device on the front of your chair – then it becomes a perfect off-road chair.

It comes with anti-tippers, which can be helpful if you’re going up steep hills, and a jacking-up feature, which makes it easier to remove the wheels without scratching your chair on the ground. You can then swap the wheels from the electric ones back to your standard manual ones without any modifications.
