Despite modifications to my manual Quickie Wheelchair, including switching to Frog’s Legs Carbotecture Forks, I continued to experience significant pain and discomfort due to vibrations radiating through my frame for a long time. This led me to explore alternative solutions to maximise my comfort, which is when I discovered Loopwheels.
Innotative Design:
The concept of these wheels is genuinely fantastic. The looped design and spring system create a self-correcting mechanism, effectively cushioning the user from bumps and significantly reducing vibration. This innovative design genuinely impressed me.
Initially, I was hesitant about the investment. However, after speaking with a long-term Loopwheels user, I learned about the “try before you buy” program. This opportunity immediately caught my attention because it’s often challenging to assess if a piece of equipment meets individual needs through a brief test drive or sales pitch. Being able to integrate the device into my daily routine and truly understand its impact on my quality of life was invaluable.
Try Before You Buy:
For others who might be considering this trial, here’s how to sign up:
1. Visit the Loopwheels website.
2. Scroll down and click on the “try before you buy” button.
3. Read the trial rules thoroughly before committing.
4. Select your preferred rim size, push rim offset, logo colour, push rim type, tyres, and payment type.
5. Proceed to checkout and enter your account information. You will only pay an initial £20 to cover delivery costs.
6. The wheels are yours to try for 21 days!
Upon ordering, my package arrived within a few days. The packaging was made from recyclable materials, easy to open, and protective. Information on attaching the wheels to various frames was also included. Both wheels were in excellent condition, and to my pleasant surprise, they even arrived in purple! While you don’t get to choose the colour of the loaner wheels, the option to customise “forever wheels” is a stark contrast to other medical devices, often only available in black or beige.
Having the wheels for an extended period was hugely beneficial. It allowed me to test them in diverse environments and over various terrains, including at home, outdoors, in a hospital, and even at a theme park. This comprehensive testing provided an excellent opportunity for my carer and me to assess the significant difference the wheels made.
Before the trial concluded, I had to decide how to proceed. I absolutely loved every moment of testing these wheels; so much so that I dreaded switching back to my standard Spinergy Wheels. I could comfortably spend more time in my wheelchair without as many vibrations radiating into my seat cushion, backrest, or handlebars. It genuinely felt as if my chair was gliding rather than rolling. I honestly never expected the wheels to be as good as the reviews suggested, so I hadn’t considered how I would pay for them. However, I knew I had to find a way to continue experiencing such benefits, so I arranged to pay via monthly instalments.
If Loopwheels aren’t a good fit, you can easily cancel your payment plan by logging into your account. The company will then contact you to arrange the return of the trial wheels, without question, which is a level of courtesy that is greatly appreciated when terminating an order.
Final Thoughts:
Overall, the entire experience was of a high standard, and the customer service was excellent. The Loopwheels team was consistently happy to help and considerate of my needs. I highly recommend this product to anyone seeking a way to make their wheelchair more comfortable.
