How AYL Helped Transform One Person’s Mobility

For over 20 years, living with illness meant that every mobility aid this client had owned -from folding power chairs to mobility scooters – felt like a compromise. Equipment was chosen out of affordability or necessity, not because it truly met their needs. The result? Dangerous breakdowns, physical strain, limited independence, and a deep frustration with designs that didn’t reflect their personality or lifestyle.

When their most recent chair failed completely, they reached out to Access Your Life (AYL) – and everything changed.

“From that point on, I’ve felt like I’ve been gathered in a nurturing, practical hug, where I am fully seen as a vibrant individual in my mid-30s with needs and dreams.”

Lauren and Felix, co-founders of AYL, worked closely with the client to understand their unique requirements. They carried out thorough discussions, detailed measurements, and in-depth specification lists – going far beyond the standard experience with non-disabled sales teams. Their mission was simple: to secure the right setup at the best possible price, while ensuring it matched both functional needs and personal style.

A Delivery Day to Remember

When the big day arrived, it was anything but ordinary. Lauren and Felix unveiled the new chair with a huge bow and a dramatic flourish, then spent hours calibrating it to perfection. Even when a problem arose, they stepped in to liaise directly with the manufacturer and provided loan wheels so the client wasn’t stranded.

A Lasting Transformation

The difference has been life-changing.

“Each mobility aid I had before shrivelled my soul in some way… Now, I have something I genuinely think is stylish. I can drive with pride and postural support through mud and galleries. I can access the countryside I love and travel easily.”

And the care didn’t stop at delivery – AYL provided a one-month home service and an annual follow-up to ensure the chair continues to perform exactly as needed.

This story is just one of many that shows what makes AYL different. It’s not just about equipment – it’s about restoring confidence, independence, and joy.
