At Access Your Life (AYL), our mission has always been simple: to help people find the right mobility aids, access essential funding, and feel supported every step of the way. What makes us different is that our disabled-led team truly understands the challenges our community faces — because we live them too.
Over the years, we’ve been privileged to work with incredible people from all walks of life. Their feedback and stories remind us why we do what we do.
Personal, Understanding, and Always There
Many people describe us as “so incredibly supportive” and “a friendly, fantastic team” who go above and beyond. Whether it’s helping someone source the perfect wheelchair, guiding them through a complicated grant application, or simply being a listening ear, we pride ourselves on making sure nobody feels alone in the process.
Our founders, Lauren and Felix, started AYL after experiencing the lack of support and representation in the mobility aid industry themselves. Today, they – along with assistance dog Fliss – are known for bringing warmth, humour, and transparency to every interaction, even while managing their own health challenges.
Restoring Independence
We’ve heard countless times how the right mobility aid can completely change a person’s life. One client told us, “AYL is an amazing company that helped me get my independence back after needing a wheelchair.” Another shared how our guidance transformed their experience:
“I have recently gone through the full process of purchasing a customised power chair through Access Your Life, and the experience was unlike any other… Delivery day was a complete joy: they proudly revealed my new ‘throne’ with a huge bow and a flourish of cloth. The experience has changed how I feel about my illness after 20 years. Now, I have something stylish that lets me travel easily and access the countryside I love.”
Support That Goes Beyond Equipment
For many, our help extends far beyond the practicalities of equipment. One person said, “They are an inspiration to people who are struggling each day… showing what can be achieved – not just for themselves, but in meeting the needs of others.” Others have found that our events, advice, and online community give them the confidence and knowledge they need to navigate life with a disability.
Our Grant Assistance Scheme, founded by Lauren, has been described as “life-changing,” helping people secure funding they didn’t even know was possible. We’ve seen this support open doors to greater independence, mobility, and opportunities.
Building a Safe, Empowering Space
One of the things we’re proudest of is creating a safe and welcoming space where disabled people feel understood. As one person put it, “Access Your Life is a safe space for so many.”
From the moment you reach out – whether it’s a quick message about a wheelchair part or a full consultation on equipment needs – our approach is always the same: to listen, to understand, and to find the best solution for you.
Why We Do What We Do
We’ve been told we’re “a small company that makes a huge impact” – and we wear that badge proudly. Every story, from a teenager meeting their first assistance dog to someone regaining the ability to explore the outdoors, fuels our passion to keep going.
We know that disability changes life in countless ways. But with the right support, equipment, and community, it’s possible to reclaim independence, confidence, and joy. That’s why AYL exists – and why we’ll keep working tirelessly to be there for every person who needs us.
