Personal Opinion:
I would be lost without my Triride, as it works so well in both urban and off road environments. Although it can lose traction on loose ground (particularly dusty or small loose gravel topped paths) and when travelling up hills. Thankfully since getting a new chair, I have found the reaction is better, so it’s a case of making sure it’s set up to suit the chair you use. It’s also a little fiddly to take on and off as there are multiple steps required to attach and detach it, but I got the hang of it after the first few tries!
It’s really compact and has far less impact on the overall size of my chair than expected because unlike some of the other powered attachments on the market, you can turn on the spot. The battery life is also a huge bonus for me and the top speed is great especially on cycle paths. It’s just nice to have an extra bit of speed that you don’t get with standard powered wheelchairs, meaning it’s now possible to ‘run’ for the bus!
The controls take a bit of getting used to as it can freewheel like a bike, which is quite different from a powered wheelchair that will stop as soon as you let go of the joystick! But now I’m used to it I find it very helpful, and you can use the momentum rather than constantly being on the throttle. Overall it is a great piece of equipment, which is much better than using a powered attachment that tucks behind/under the chair.
