Personal Opinion:
For me, and I expect for many other people, the sight of my OT bringing a white and grey toilet frame into my home made me want to tell them to take it away again, as I couldn’t imagine ever getting used to it being in my home. It also looked like it belonged to an elderly person or a hospital setting. This is a very normal, and natural reaction, especially as I was 28 when mine arrived, but I acknowledged that I had occasionally struggled to stand up from the toilet without falling over so had to give it a go.

I may have initially cringed and hated the grey and white monstrosity that arrived in my bathroom, but it’s proved to be something I now wouldn’t be without as it has saved me from an incredible number of bruises, split lips, concussions, and potential dislocations!

I have issues with my balance caused both by internal stimuli and my vision, so being able to rest my elbows on the armrests of the frame whilst sitting on the toilet provides me with great stability. It has also saved me from falling off the toilet on more occasions than I can possibly count. Especially if I go to the bathroom on the way to bed, as my body also has times when

Over time, I’ve also come to recognise how much it starts to blend into the bathroom once it’s been there for a while as it sits relatively unobtrusively. It also means that I have two stable arms to push up from on days when my legs need some help standing up from the toilet. So overall, an incredibly valuable, even if generally underrated bathroom aid!

I hope this review helps you to see how beneficial a toilet frame could be for you, and how you might just become friends with the ugly piece of grey and white metal!
