Personal Opinion:
Living in a cold climate and being a permanent wheelchair user, often leaves me struggling to maintain a comfortable temperature. Of course, this isn’t helped by the fact that I have Dysautonomia (meaning my Autonomic Nervous System cannot regulate itself properly), so I’m either too cold or boiling hot. But after Lauren and Felix approached me with the opportunity to try out a NiCosy wheelchair blanket in exchange for a review, I was very intrigued!
I decided to thoroughly test my blanket for the first time, during a day trip to Beamish Open Air Museum on, a particularly cold day. The blanket is surprisingly very easy to attach, as it has a discreet buckle that clips around the backrest on your wheelchair to prevent it from slipping down. It has snag-free velcro down the front of the blanket, making it easy to get in and out of!
The particular blanket I was able to try was a lovely navy blue fleece number, however, I’ve seen the wide range of different patterns you can choose from, meaning there’s a style for everyone! The blanket provides warmth from the waist down, as it is made with a single sheet of hand-cut polar fleece; yet it didn’t make me feel as if I was confined within the blanket. However, you can order custom made blankets via the NiCosy website if you want or need a particular length, width etc.
