Personal Opinion:
The cover is incredibly versatile it has two poppers at the bottom so you can clip those together to create a narrower piece to put over your feet if you have a centre footplate on your chair. There’s then elasticated Velcro straps that can go around behind your feet or be attached to the frame of your chair. There’s a second set of straps at about mid-calf height and then at the top, there’s a strap on each side which I usually put around the side pancake of my seat.
When I became reliant on my wheelchair outside the house it was late summer. so I started looking online for a cover that I could put over my legs that both waterproof, warm and windproof. I spent hours searching online and all I could find were black, navy or burgundy covers that are designed with older people in mind who could sit inside the cosy and zip up the cosy up over their legs. Then I stumbled across Bundlebean, which is a fully waterproof, fleece-lined cover that is designed to be fitted over your legs and even has its own waterproof stuff bag for easy storage. Mine just hangs on the back of my chair all year round. I was amazed to have finally found what I was looking for, but they seem to be the only company making this style of cover.
I’ve been out in torrential rain in a waterproof coat and my Bundlebean and got home completely dry. It’s really warm so I use it every time I go out during the winter, but it’s also really light too so it doesn’t put any pressure on your legs. It’s generously sized but the mixture of elasticated straps mean you can ensure you get a good fit, whilst also using the straps at the top to wrap around you so it sits snugly against you and keeps the rain out.
It also has a pocket on the front, which can be accessed from either side and is also fully waterproof and fleece-lined. I’ve gone from a wheelchair with a centre plate where I used to wrap the Bundlebean right around behind my legs, to a chair with really wide footplates, yet it still fits comfortably over and the elastic built into the bottom of the cover means I don’t have to bother securing any straps around my feet.
Although I had one of the elastics at the bottom pull out of the seam about 4 or 5 months after I bought it and when I contacted customer services with a couple of photos, they immediately dispatched a replacement and sent me a prepaid postage bag so they could return the broken one to their factory to highlight the weakness for future production. Excellent customer service! My Bundlebean is the best thing I’ve purchased for my wheelchair and I wouldn’t be without it. They also make smaller covers for pushchairs or children in wheelchairs/specialist chairs, all of which come in funky patterns!
