Personal Opinion:
Benefits:
As an ambulatory wheelchair user, it was increasingly difficult to use old style crutches as they were starting to give RSI type strain injuries, and I felt I was doing more harm than good.
But these crutches have allowed me to minimise the impact on my shoulders and wrists, while also helping me to walk more efficiently.
Due to the gooseneck design, they also help with easier transfers, and the wide ferrule provides more stability compared to the regular crutch design. This has had a big impact as I’m more confident with transfers, feel more steady when moving without core / leg engagement, have no more wrist or shoulder pain, and have improved posture.
Drawbacks:
Due to my disabilities, I needed help with adjusting and fitting the forearm enclosure. It involves using Allen keys and small bolts, so I would advise seeking help when assembling.
